向其柏，男，1935年10月出生，南京林业大学教授。曾任该校林学系副主任、校研究生部主任，中国植物学会理事；现任南京林业大学桂花研究中心主任、中国花协桂花分会副会长、国际生物科学联盟栽培植物命名委员会委员、中国园艺学会栽培植物命名和登录委员会副主任、法国自然博物院分类与进化系客座教授、江苏省植物学会副理事长。长期从事植物分类学、园林植物学、植物孢粉学等课程的教学工作，经验丰富，知识渊博。近50年来一直奋战在教学和科研第一线，在木犀属种质资源、桂花品种分类、五加科系统分类方面成绩卓著，2004年10月正式被命为木犀属国际登录权威。在国内外核心刊物发表论文80余篇，发表植物新分类群70多个，建立1新属。主持和参加编写的主要著作有：《中国桂花品种图志》、《中国主要树种造林技术》、《中国树木志》、《中国花经》、《树木学》、《室内观叶植物》等，其中《中国主要树种造林技术》获林业部科技成果一等奖。
